2014年7月28日值吕彦直先生(1894-1929)双甲子华诞，特选载先生设计广州中山纪念堂图纸中之《广州纪念堂首层平面(效果图)》，以示我们的纪念。此建筑是为纪念先生而兴建的，正所谓“以伟大之建筑，作之纪念”。而这座建筑之所以伟大，不仅仅在于其体量庞大、立面外观雄浑壮丽，也在于其6000个观众席的室内布置不仅仅为当时亚洲之，更体现了中山先生的民权、民生理想——此地将是民众参政议政之所在，同时也将是万民同乐的剧场。吕彦直先生是建筑师中能体会中山先生治国理念者，故也当然是设计这座中国的纪念建筑的人选。金磊主编的《中国建筑文化遗产(14)》没有选载立面效果图而选载了这个平面布置，意在说明吕彦直先生是如何在实用功能与构图美观上仔细权衡、精益求精的。时至今日，在规模上比此建筑更为庞大者已并不鲜见了，但细节处理上如此一丝不苟者；却仍属凤毛麟角。
