    Temperatures iYushu vary from around 10C ithe day to minus5 ~C at night.n
    The weather makes rescue work difficult, and high altitude and thecold also pose dangers to the victims.n
    Cai Zhengdong, director of the Shanghai Trauma First Aid Center,said that icold weather with less oxygen, the blood vessels of injuredpeople may constrict, causing the injured body part to die. Iaddition,patients' kidneys will start failing, he added.n
    He said the dusty wind iYushu also impedes the recovery of surgi-cal patients.n
    Cai, who had joined the relief work iSichuaprovince after the 8.0-magnitude quake i2008, stressed that the first 72 hours after the quakeare 'exceedingly important' to rescuing trapped people.n
    'The situatioiYushu is quite different from that iWenchuan,Sichuan. Wounded people are very likely to stop breathing ia cold,low-oxygeenvironment,' he said.n
    Zheng Guoguang, director of China Meteorological Administration,required relevant local departments to give careful and practical weatherforecasts ithe quake-hit areas, including fire warnings ithe denselyconstructed tent areas.n
    Zhang Guosheng, deputy director of Qinghai Meteorological Bureau,said weather departments are paying close attentioto changes itheweather, and weather updates would be reported to disaster relief head-quarters hourly.n
    Meanwhile, experts have beedisp' tched to analyze recent climate-related materials. Zhang said a work team was rushing to repair equipment iYushuto ensure a smooth weather forecast service.
