本书介绍了2012年在中国展出的一批高水准的艺术作品,即便不都具有划时代意义,却都是非常优秀的作品,其中包括若干在艺术圈内备受尊崇的艺术家,以及一些大家公认的有名艺术家的作品。但是,撰写《发光体》的初衷并不是为了倾力报道那些最受推崇的中国艺术家。《发光体》与传统市场观点有着不一样的视角,即不再赘述那些缺乏精神实质的陈词滥调,或像那些大部头的学术论著一样将大量的理论分析堆砌在一起。相反地,它只是一个庆典,庆贺艺术家们在那些美好且顺心的日子里创作出属于他们自己的作品——非凡而很好的作品。简言之,它真正关注的是艺术,抑或借用翠西?艾敏的话说,即使他们明天就逝去,这些中国艺术家创作的划时代的作品也将会被铭记。
